A well-heeled giveaway: win your SoleMates!

LONDON AND EVERYWHERE- High heels have been making headlines in London this summer, thanks to Beyoncé stepping out for a browse of London boutiques in sky-high Lucite platforms (perhaps not to be outdone by Miley Cyrus teetering in seven-inch Louboutins in Madrid just weeks before?). And the tabloids were abuzz when a pregnant Lily Allen traded her usual glam stilettos for “trainers” when she performed at the Big Chill concert in Herefordshire.
All the celebrity hubbub just goes to show that no matter how darling ballet flats and strappy gladiator sandals may be, the heights still rule when it comes to London fashion. As I head off to London for a fab holiday Purple Passport style (check out my Passport picks here to see where I’m headed!), you better believe I’m hitting Harvey Nicks to get my paws on the best pick of heels for fall.
Thing is, sometimes stilettos and ye olde city don’t really mix. Just try a day on the cobblestones at sights like the Tower of London, and you’ll want to chuck your Manolos in favor of some Birkenstocks. And then there are hazards like the Tube (subway) grates just waiting to gobble your slender heels. Plus, with so many delightful green expanses like Hyde Park, it’s a shame to have to skip a frolic in the grass for fear that your heel will sink into the sod.
The solution? SoleMates. These babies are neat and discreet high heel protectors! The clear little doodads slip onto the bottom of everything from stilettos to kitten heels to protect your shoe as you traipse around the city. The way they work is a bit of a physics review…they increase the surface area on the base of the heel, reducing pressure. Translation: they prevent the heel from sinking into grass or falling into cobblestone cracks. Ingenious! And because the SoleMates are practically invisible once you’ve got them on your heels, you’ll never have to sacrifice comfort for fashion again.
Now that I’ve discovered them, I wouldn’t be caught pounding the London pavement without them. In honor of my trip, The Purple Passport is giving away three pairs of SoleMates to three lucky travelers! Of the next five people that sign up for a Purple Passport account, three will be randomly selected to win. That means you have a 60% chance of winning! These are fantastic odds…and definitely a good deal better than the odds that Miley’s seven-inchers will touch off a craze of tottering tweens.
