A Truly “Purple” Pick at Violet Boutique in Washington, DC

December 16, 2013

WASHINGTON, DC, US – Though this little shop is somewhat of an oddball among the string of bars in DC‘s Adams Morgan, we were pleasantly surprised to find Violet Boutique, which practically had our name stamped all over it! The feminine, purple-accented clothing store (fitting for ladies like us!) caters to trendy, young fashionistas seeking multifaceted attire that is both affordable and appropriate for a range of occasions.

While it’s true that we’re a little biased (purple is our favorite color, after all), we do appreciate how the collections, from chic workwear to flirty party duds, are available in a gamut of colorful hues. Browse the racks of girly fabrics for lace cocktail dresses, printed blouses, and vibrant tops from brands such as Lush, Ark & Co, Everly, and Collective Concepts.

The intimate boutique feels like stepping into your best friend’s closet. Violet even offers personal styling advice for selecting the perfect outfit. There is also an extensive array of statement jewelry and handbags to put the finishing touches on a casual daytime or sophisticated evening look. Like her clients, owner Julie Egermayer understands the need to strike a balance between the professional and sartorial worlds. Before opening shop, she worked in politics and social work, but ultimately decided to pursue her passion for fashion.

Feeling all dressed up with nowhere to go? The neighborhood certainly isn’t lacking in hot nightlife spots. A few of our favorites include Bourbon, a hip whiskey bar; Chi-Cha Lounge, a chic hookah hangout; and The Reef, a cool Caribbean watering hole. Now that you’re ready to hit the town with your new get-up from Violet Boutique, there’s no chance you’ll spend the night as a shrinking violet.
